1. The NOVA Open takes place over 4 days; however, if I want to come just for one event (a small tournament, for example) is that possible?
Yes. Every event, however, will also require the purchase of either a day pass or a NOVA Open Weekend Badge.
2. The mailing address for my tickets is different from my PayPal account. Is this a problem?
No. Once payment is confirmed, your purchases are placed in our system. Your badge and game passes are NOT mailed to you. Everything, including VIP & Swag Bags, as well as systems guides, will be available at the NOVA Open registration desk on the day of your arrival.
3. I’m still confused about the actual time of the 40K GT; the open is 4 days long … does the actual GT last that long? Is it required to come on Thursday?
The timing of the GT has changed a bit each year to accommodate the concerns of our players. Please check the current SCHEDULE and plan accordingly.
4. Are refunds available if something comes up?
Unfortunately, we are unable to make refunds. Special exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Special exceptions would include U.S. Military deployment, death in the family, and serious illness. To qualify for a “Special Exception Refund,” please submit a request via email, together with supporting documentation, to novaopen@gmail.com. Special Exception Refund requests will be reviewed and considered after October 1, 2012.
5. Maybe I am just not seeing it, but do you have a breakdown of the schedule of events? Coming from out of town, I don’t know if I need to be there Thursday or Friday.
Though the NOVA Open begins on the Thursday, only 40K Invitational players should expect to be present that evening. Other activities such as open gaming will be available for those attendees who wish to arrive early, however. Check out the full schedule.
6. Can you post a list of the participants for each system?
We will be posting PDF’s of participants and results AFTER the NOVA Open, but will not be posting attendees’ names ahead of time. The exception to this is the NOVA Invitational list of invitees.
7. Will there be vendors? If so, who?
There will indeed be vendors! Confirmation of all vendors will happen as the event approaches. Check the website regularly under Sponsors & Vendors.
8. I have one model in my army that I had commission painted. If I used this model during the tournament, would this exclude me from the chance to win best appearance?
You would not be able to submit your commission painted model for individual model prizes and awards, but otherwise this would not negatively impact your appearance scores, or the scores they contribute to.
9. How much of one army or each individual model must be painted?
The entire army must be painted to the standard tournament “3 color minimum,” and appropriately based. You may in theory have some visible primer on the model, so long as your army meets the 3 color minimum. Please keep in mind that visible primer is likely to result in a zeroing or near-zeroing of your appearance score, and this may dramatically impact your final standings and eligibility for Best Overall (Renaissance Man). If you have specific questions about whether or not your army qualifies, please let us know by e-mailing tournament organizer staff directly at novaopen@gmail.com.
10. Will you have the Hyatt Regency Hotel Raffle again this year?
Yes! The Hotel Raffle will be open to paid NOVA attendees who stay at the Hyatt. The sooner you book your rooms and the more nights you stay, the better your chances of winning some of the $2,000 in raffle prizes.
